I am honored to have served as a Member of the Organizing and Scientific Committee for the 8th International Students Science Congress held on May 23-24 at Ege University. This event was a tremendous success 🎉, bringing together brilliant minds 🧠 and fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration among students from around the world 🌍.
The experience was incredibly rewarding, both professionally and personally. It was inspiring to see the high quality of research presented and to be part of an event that encourages the next generation of scientists 🔬.
A special thank you to Congress Chair Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çevik for his outstanding leadership and dedication, which were pivotal in making this congress such a remarkable event 👏.
I look forward to the continued growth and success of this congress in the years to come!

🚀 Exciting News! 🚀
I am thrilled to share that my research proposal, "Developing and Implementing Remote Sensing Methods for Detection of Biogas/Methane Leakage in Landfills," has been awarded 1.250.000 TL in funding by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK). 🌟
This project aims to address a critical environmental issue by detecting and routinely monitoring biogas/methane leakage from landfills, which are a significant source of anthropogenic methane emissions. By doing so, we hope to not only reduce emissions but also increase energy production and mitigate odor problems associated with landfills.
I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity to lead this research as the Principal Investigator. I want to express my sincere gratitude to the TÜBİTAK for their support and belief in the importance of our work.
None of this would be possible without an incredible team, and I'm fortunate to have two outstanding Faculty Associates, Associate Professor Levent Kuzu and Assistant Professor Ozgun Yucel, by my side. 🙌
I look forward to collaborating with them and other experts in the field as we embark on this exciting journey to make a positive impact on our environment. 🌍

Turkish Road Association 2022 Reward
Ülkemizde karayolu çalışmalarına destek olmayı ve ülkemizi karayolu ve karayolu ulaşımı konularında uluslararası platformlarda daha iyi temsil etmeyi amaçlayan Yükseköğretim Kurulu (YÖK) Kanunu'na göre Karayolları Genel Müdürlüğü (KGM), Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (ODTÜ) ve İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi'nin (İTÜ) işbirliği ile kurulan Yollar Türk Milli Komitesinin (YTMK) 1998 yılından itibaren uygulamakta olduğu ödül yarışmasında 2022 yılı Bildiri ve Makale dalında Doç. Dr. Sedat YALÇINKAYA'nın başlıca yazarı olduğu "Siting charging stations and identifying safe and convenient routes for environmentally sustainable e-scooter systems" adlı makalesi ödül almaya lâyık görülmüştür.

Yalcinkaya Reseach Group’s PhD student Sevin Uzer was selected for the Council of European Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE) Young Surveyors’ Contest Finals. She will present our work “GIS-based multi-criteria decision support model for planning municipal solid waste collection points: A case study of Çağdaş Neighbourhood, Çiğli District, Izmir, Turkey” on the contest on October 6, 2022.
